La Tijana

Manny Minaya’s short story, La Tijana, was featured in Quislaona, A Dominican Fantasy Anthology.

La Tijana tells the story of Pacifica Areche, a young woman who goes deaf after she nearly drowns in a river. Her disability unlocks the ability to hear voices throughout history whenever she is near water.

With this newfound power, Pacifica Areche learns the history of her island in the Caribbean, and what it means to live in the present while honoring the past.
